Dr Archana Chacko

Dr Archana Chacko is a specialist respiratory and sleep paediatrician. She specialises in diagnosing and treating all issues affecting breathing, sleep and the lungs in children from birth to 18 years of age, specialising in chronic cough, chest infections, asthma, sleep apnoea and difficulties sleeping. As a mother of two young children, Archana understands how stressful unsettled sleep can be for children (and their families) and the struggles with handling children suffering with lung or breathing conditions.

Born in Adelaide, Archana now calls Brisbane home having been raised here since age 11 years. She graduated with honours in medicine from James Cook University in North Queensland and undertook specialist training in paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine at the Mater Children’s, Royal Children’s and Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where she lives with her family.

Archana adopts a nurturing, child-focussed approach informed by the latest research and international best practice. She has published in several high-end peer reviewed respiratory/sleep journals and has presented research at international conferences. She also spent 12 months as a visiting scholar at the prestigious Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University, California and is currently undertaking PhD research in improving respiratory outcomes for children with neuromuscular conditions.
